About The Way Inn

The home was built in 1853 by George Lay, who sold it two years later to James and Anna Way.  In 1882, Way began extensive alterations to the house that included raising and changing the pitch of the roof and adding the bay window.  In 1891, Way added the two verandas on the front of the house and the picture window on the east side.  The carriage house was built after the early 1880's renovations.  Now a residential style bed and breakfast, the Inn is located in the heart of Marshall, Michigan's historic hub within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants.  The Way Inn is no stranger to guests as it has been a regular stop on multiple tours including Marshall's Annual Historic Home Tour, Garden Tour and Candlelight Tour.

The Way Inn

This home was acquired in 1998 by homeowner and innkeeper, Andrew Merrild. Andy has renovated every room in the home, some more than once. Inspired by the homes of Savnnah, Georgia, the exterior was repainted in 2011 using six colors.  The carriage house was repainted in 2012.

Well appointed bedrooms and baths are housed on the second floor of the Inn.  Two of the bedrooms have designated adjacent baths each featuring a Jacuzzi tub.  The additional bedroom without a designated bath may be rented in conjunction with the Anna Way Room.  This is perfect for two couples or a small family reunion!

The Inn is now available for intimate weddings, vow renewals and small gatherings.  Ask us for details on how we can help you celebrate your special occasion.
